(Extended) Abstracts had to be submitted before January 6th (23:59).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please have a close look at the <strong>final conference programme<\/strong> before submitting, as you will be asked to indicate to which subtrack(s) you aim to add with your contribution. Note also that <strong>each ESEE2026 participant may present only one paper<\/strong> at the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, we kindly invite all submitting authors to help out in the evaluation of abstracts. If you accept, you will be asked to score 1-3 abstracts (depending on the number of submissions) using a rubric based on the evaluation criteria listed in the Call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we want to highlight the <strong>Best Student Prizes<\/strong> that the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE) awards to (PhD) students or recent PhD graduates that excel through their contributions to the conference. More details on these Prizes can be found in the Call, and include, amongst others, the submission of a full paper in May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>full Call for Abstracts<\/strong> can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/esee2026ghent.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ESEE2026-Call-for-Abstracts.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"490\">here<\/a> (for reference).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions were possible via <strong>ConfTool<\/strong> at<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conftool.pro\/esee2026ghent\/\">https:\/\/www.conftool.pro\/esee2026ghent\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group main-block has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4f9f0532 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scientific Programme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ESEE2026 conference programme was prepared in September by the Local Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee, and complemented with Open Special Subtracks proposed by conference participants. The <strong>final programme<\/strong> consists of 11 main tracks, 56 subtracks and 11 Open Special Subtracks (OSS) that were retained through the previous Call for Open and Closed Subtracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>main tracks<\/strong> include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Beyond GDP: Rethinking Well-being and Prosperity&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Ecological Boundaries, Biophysical Realities and the Commons&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Justice, Equity, and Inclusive Futures&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Socio-Ecological Transformation in Times of Crisis&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Technology, Work and Care&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Institutional Innovation and Governance&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Ecological Macroeconomics, Public Finance, and Money&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Sufficiency, Values, and Behavioral Change&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Reimagining Places and the Urban-Rural Divide&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Rethinking Business and Finance&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:clamp(14.082px, 0.88rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.678), 21px);\">Developments in Ecological Economics as a Scientific Field&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>full programme<\/strong> &#8211; including a list of all subtracks and a description of each of the Open Special Subtracks (OSS) &#8211; can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/esee2026ghent.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Scientific-Programme-2026_final.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"440\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group main-block has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4f9f0532 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call for Special Subtracks \/ Special Sessions (closed)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Call for Special Subtracks \/ Special Sessions has been closed since October 28th (23:59).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two distinct formats are provided within the ESEE2026 conference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Open Special Subtrack<\/strong>: here one proposes to add a Subtrack to the ESEE2026 programme that is centered around a specific topic within ecological economics that does not fit clearly within any of the (sub)tracks proposed by the conference organizers \u2013 see appendix A below for a full overview of the ESEE programme, or check out this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/esee2026ghent.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Scientific-Programme-ESEE2026.pdf\">link<\/a>. If approved, the Subtrack is added to the final programme of the conference and will be <strong>open&nbsp;<\/strong>to all conference participants who can submit their work to the Subtrack. A Subtrack will afterwards translate into one or more sessions \u2013 in the&nbsp;<strong>traditional format<\/strong>&nbsp;of a series of presentations \u2013 depending on the interest of conference participants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Closed Special Session<\/strong>: here you propose a Session organized around a specific topic related to ecological economics, for which the organizers wish to <strong>deviate from the traditional format<\/strong> of sessions at the ESEE2026 conference \u2013 i.e. the organizers want to have a session that is not a series of presentations of participants, but, for instance, a roundtable or interactive discussion. These Special Sessions are&nbsp;<strong>closed<\/strong>&nbsp;in the sense that only pre-approved scholars will be allowed to present (including the Session proposers themselves).
